The Chairman of the Contract Compliance Committee (CCC), Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Jeo Gadzama (SAN), has said that the committee will look at knotty issues in the contracts and concession agreements entered into between the Federal Government and private investors.
Gadzama said this while speaking with journalists shortly after the CCC toured the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) 2, Lagos , on Friday.
He said: "Our mission is to tour the facilities that the Federal Government concessioned to companies and ensure that the companies comply with the terms stipulated in the concession agreements."
Gadzama said that the committee’s visit to MMA2 was the last by the body , as according to him, the CCC had earlier gone to Apapa Port, Tin Can Port, the Trade Fair Complex and other facilities concessioned by the Federal Government.
On the conflicting claims of the concession tenure of the MMA2, which has been put at 12 and 36 years and has generated controversy in the aviation industry, the CCC boss said, "Whatever the duration is, it has not expired. It is not why the committee is here for now. In every human endeavour, conflict will always arise."
He assured that all the issues raised by stakeholders will be looked into and that the body and that the CCC would be fair to all.
"All these issues raised will be addressed. We are going to be fair. The calibre of people that make up the team shows that the team is ready to be fair."
On the alleged insistence by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL) managers of MMA 2 Terminal to commence regional operations despite the shortcoming noticed in the facility, the Managing Director of BASL, Mrs. Idunu Oyebolu, said the terminal cannot be open to flight operations to the West Coast until it gets approval from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
