Anambra State Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) governorship candidate for the February 6, 2010, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, has promised to empower the youths if elected into office.

The Ekwunife Campaign Organization through its spokesman, Collins Ugwu, said this in a statement.

According to the statement, "given the evident role position of the entertainment industry as a provider of mass employment opportunities for the young and the young-at-heart, Mrs. Ekwunife as the governor of Anambra State, would spare no effort in harnessing the vast potentials in the various facets of the entertainment industry to boost employment for the teeming youths in the sate."

The statement also said: "One area of human edeavour that has enormous capacity to generate positive means of decent livelihood is the entertainment industry, he noted, but wondered why the preceding administrations in the state had all the years chose to ignore its development by not erecting structures for the purpose.

"With Mrs. Ekwuinife in the saddle therefore, it will be a total departure from the archaic and conservative past when such a vital sector of the state economy was made to suffer abject neglect, and further engendered the resort to various forms of anti-social behaviours as exhibited presently by the youths.

"Anambra boasts a large number of her indigenes acting, singing, producing, directing and marketing as well as distributing quantum of works in music and movies lacks the necessary infrastructure to develop the industry for the generation of employment for the youths, concluding that an Ekwunife led administration in Anambra would redress that."
