HELP

Pastor P Enilama
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth.” Psalm. 121:1-2.
HELP: This four-letter word can indeed mean many things to different people. It could mean a cry of desperation for assistance or an S.O.S call for an outstretched arm to the needy.
Help! Can one ever do without some help in this life? None except the Lord God Almighty – who is the All sufficient God that is sovereign and self existent in power.
When you are in a tight corner “to whom would you flee for help?” enquired the Lord in Isaiah 10:3.
Many would look up to different things or persons for help.
Some may look up to their money for help. But we know that even when money is a defense and it “answereth all things”, yet money grows wing. It is here today and is no more tomorrow. Should a man put his trust on money or look he elsewhere for help? Again and again you ponder!
As the hunter relies on the accuracy of his instinct to detect dangers in the forest so should a man in need determines who to look unto for help.
The sons of the prophets in II Kings 6:1 had accommodation problems. They decided on a line of action. They sought the presence of the man of God to go with them to Jordan. “But as one was felling a beam the axe head fell unto the water and he cried --- Alas master! for it was borrowed.
“And the man of God said where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick and cast it thither; and the iron did swim.” The man of God came to his rescue.
Who indeed should be your rescuer? Man or God? In a moment a pastor can truly be heavenly connected with God.
In another moment a minister of God can fall from his exalted office due to sin, as was the case with Eli and Judas Iscariot. Eli’s lineage would have provided Israel with priests forever but sin was Eli’s greatest undoing.
Judas Iscariot had a healing ministry and was also a treasurer to our Lord Jesus Christ. He was one of the “seventy that returned again with joy saying Lord even the devils are subject unto us through thy name” Luke 10:17. It was also the same Judas Iscariot that later betrayed our Lord Jesus Christ.
To whom would you trust and run to for help and not be disappointed? Is it your Pastor, Parent, Relations, Friends, Wife, Husband or the Lord Jesus Christ?
None but the Lord Jesus “gives help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.”Psalm 108:12.
Some people in dare need would go to a godfather, for help. But the way of a godfather is wicked, diabolical and suicidal. The help of a godfather is but for a hidden price which the bible said shall be “turned upside down.” Ps. 146:9
The Almighty God has warned in Jer. 17:5 “Cursed is the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.
“For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
“Blessed is the man that trusted in the Lord and whose hope the Lord is.
“For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
“The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it? “I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doing.”
Who can you depend upon as your best bet in time of need? David said in Psalm 124:1 “if it had not been the lord who was on our side when men rose up against us then they would have swallowed us up quickly.”
If it had not been the Lord when we were in financial tight corners there would not have been a way out. Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth. Blessed be his name forever more.
It is Him that arranges the affairs of men on this earth. When you surrender your life to him you will be amazed how quickly and how marvelous he will arrange your life to the amazement of all.
